ATTA KID

Founded in 2012 by Daniel Casares (sax and vocals) and Max Cowan (keyboards and vocals), Atta Kid's mission is to create a musical bridge between the precise chaos of East Bay Funk and the contagious lilt of the sounds of New Orleans. In February of this year, Atta Kid applied this approach to trumpeter Lee Morgan’s iconic album, "The Sidewinder" for two sold-out shows at the SF Jazz Center. Their debut album, East Basics, is what Oakland might sound like if it moved to Louisiana.

KALIL WILSON

In less than a decade, vocalist Kalil Wilson has become one of the most potent and promising young vocalists of his generation. Gifted with a powerful yet nuanced voice and armed with a technical versatility that positions him comfortably in jazz, R&B, pop, and even classical, Wilson has earned high marks from the music press and has captivated audiences from Barcelona to Berkeley with performances that defy easy categorization. His bright re-imaginings of jazz standards and originals are well-informed by the rich history of great jazz singing while melding seamlessly with his heartfelt, eclectic stylings.

"Kalil has the gift, I know it when I hear it. He is anointed" - Carlos Santana
"Only once in a long while there arrives a vocal talent like this" - Seth Riggs

MARINE FUTIN

Dazzling, energetic and truly refreshing. Here are the first adjectives that come to our minds when listening to Qui Danse, the first album of Marine Futin, singer, guitarist, composer - or rather singer-songwriter.

And it is about jazz in the record with pop and folk influences, which is immediately apparent when hearing the embroidered aerial arrangements by musicians: Nir Felder and Gilad Hekselman on guitars, Ziv Ravitz on drums and Or Baraket on bass.

WILL WESTON

Sometimes it's simply in the blood. Despite a detached upbringing in the tropics of Hawaii, Will Weston's adherence to music runs deeper, the son of two accomplished touring and session musicians and grandson of 1950's Hollywood icons Jo Stafford & Paul Weston. Now ten years relocated to San Francisco, Weston's independent releases have refined a composite style of equally funky & soul driven rock songs, with a truest affection for melody. A lengthy residency at SF's iconic Boom Boom Room in 2015 forged both a loyal support base and core group of players behind him, earning Weston a seat at the table backed by session musicians responsible for some of the top recordings to emerge from the Bay Area. Teaming with East Bay funk-addict Nino Moschella at his own Bird & Egg Studios in 2016, Weston locked in ten ambitious new tracks due out this fall, comprising his third full-length, Meridian.
