Fri June 30, 2016

7:00P - 10:30P

25th Street Recording Studio - Oakland California

Founded in 2012 by Daniel Casares (sax and vocals) and Max Cowan (keyboards and vocals), Atta Kid's mission is to create a musical bridge between the precise chaos of East Bay Funk and the contagious lilt of the sounds of New Orleans. In February of this year, Atta Kid applied this approach to trumpeter Lee Morgan’s iconic album, "The Sidewinder" for two sold-out shows at the SF Jazz Center. Their debut album, East Basics, is what Oakland might sound like if it moved to Louisiana.

Join Atta Kid for an interactive doubleOone session. Atta Kid will be making music videos with a studio audience, and for part of the evening, the audience will be filming with their own phones to provide a unique perspective to be included in the final production of the videos.

The band:

Daniel Casares - sax and vocals

Max Cowan - keyboards and vocals

Mike Olmos - trumpet

Jason Muscat - bass

Joe Bagale - drums and vocals

Dave Shul - guitar

— NEIL DORFSMAN (STING, BJÖRK, BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN)

What's in it for you: as a doubleOone member, you will attend a 4 hour recording session in a state of the art studio, and share this unique moment with a band as they record, and work together to reach excellence.

You will be in the recording room with the musicians as they play.  We give you access to the unfiltered creative process of one stunning group of artists, a sense of how the musicians understand and evolve their art You will find that studios are sanctuaries, places where time flows at its own natural pace, and where true inspiration is captured in sound and music.

If you are a musician yourself, we might even have a surprise for you. The recording is followed by a cultural chat and a Q&A session, addressing creativity, emotional labor, art and life choices, communication,  practice, inspiration, achievements and the road to one's true calling, ambition and mastery.

*Our recording sessions standards: you will attend the recording session with a small doubleOone group (only 20-25 spots available/recording), and engage in creating genuine music. Catering and wine will be served.
